Lanark City Hall
The Lanark area public is invited to attend the ‘official’ installation of the Governor’ s 2017 Hometown Project Award. The lead project for the city’s selection was the Lanark First Brethren Church’s community service project called Workation 2016. That was the first time the project was done. Representatives from six different local congregations participated in the completion of 32 different projects in the area.
During the week-long June program there were 32 different volunteers giving a total of 930 volunteer hours. The 40 year program had been temporarily discontinued during 2015 – 2016 years while Illinois reorganized it’s state government.
The program was structured into six different categories in four different community resident participants. Lanark was in the ‘Under 1500 resident (smallest) group. Only 14 communities throughout Illinois were designated award winners. This is the first time Lanark had been selected as a project winner. This recognition will certainly be a good example that our community is a friendly, helpful area.
On Tuesday, March 20th, at 9AM we will officially install the sign on the (outside) wall of the city building which houses city offices, the community library and police department. We will be able to welcome both spring and the new sign!
